It was a cold December 1, in 1973 and a young college student home for the holidays had driven his Dad's car to the woodsy area of the river to shot his gun before going hunting. He and his dog came across a green camaro, both doors wide open. The music playing from an 8 track. Being from this town he recognized the car and knew who it belonged to. There was a young girl sitting up straight in the drivers seat as though taking a nap, her head leaned over. He thought not to wake her as maybe she had a rough night. It was mid morning on a Saturday. But when his dog took out running and barking towards the car he followed in an attempt to stop his dog. He got to the car and immediately realized something wasn't right. He noticed she had two holes in her gut and a small pool of dried blood around each hole. Something that looked like dried coffee ground on the drivers door. He reached over to touch her and called her name. She didn't respond and although was not stiff he realized she may be dead. A hand gun was beside the seat and the console gear shift. He picked up his dog, jumped in his dad's car and drove as fast as he could down the dirt road to get help. Shortly he passed a patrol car heading in the opposite directing. Thinking they officer would notice him speeding and turn around and try to stop him .. the officer kept going. This young college student then turned around in chase of the patrol car blowing his horn and flashing his lights. He finally got the officer to stop the car, telling him what he saw. They both then continued onto the scene. Once there the officer told the young college student he could leave and he could take it from there. This puzzled the young college student and he stood around until the Chief of Police arrive and then ask if they wanted any statement or his name and information. To which he was told, no .. and if they needed him they knew how to get in touch with him. That has been 47 years this December 1st and to this day no one has ever questioned him or ask him for any statement. Police report claims she shot and killed herself. That after the first bullet she passed out, came to, vomited and them took the handgun and pulled the trigger again, for the fatal bullet. Both bullets went straight through her body through the seat. Quite a few years past and an officer on duty along with another office thought about re-opening the case and re-examining the evidence. As they believed she was not the one that pulled the trigger. To their discovery all of the files were missing and only a hand drawn sketch of a body showing where the two bullets (supposedly) entered and exited. When they questioned this they were told to back off and forget any notion they may have of this case. In other words " CASE CLOSED" This is a small town and everyone knew this beautiful young cheerleader. She was popular and quite a story about her. If you talk to anyone today that remembers her or her story they will say she never killed herself. Now today even the file with the hand drawn photo of a body showing the entrance and exit of a bullet is missing. File completely gone, destroyed. Like she never existed. But she was someone and she was alive. Unfortunately she had to be silenced as she knew too much. I welcome your feedback.
